You may have heard the saying, "abs are made in the kitchen". While I agree with this statement to an extent, I advocate balance– particularly the importance of balancing food with exercise. From my experience, only focusing on your diet won't get you feeling your strongest; nonetheless, it's certainly essential to incorporate diet with physical exercise. Hence, I've learned that noticing a difference in how you physically look and feel does start in the kitchen.
If you're like me and want to listen to your body when its hungry rather than dieting or cutting out certain foods, read below where I share my favourite healthy, quick meals that I enjoy and that fuel my body.
These tacos are super flavourful, fresh, and filled with veggies to start the day! The yellow tomato salsa can be pre-made the night before to save time in the morning– although it only takes minutes to make anyways.
This recipe only requires four ingredients. Mix them together, bake in the oven for 30 minutes, and you have granola to last you days!
This meal only takes 10 minutes to prep, and is so flavourful! If you are vegetarian but still want some protein, just swap out the chicken with hard boiled eggs!
Soups are great options for school or work, and are the perfect lunch on cooler days. This soup is thicker too, so it's more filling than you'd expect!
Buffalo flavoured anything makes every meal better. This quick and easy spiced-up dinner is also a perfect meal prep recipe.
Peppers are the perfect carb-swap out, and can be stuffed with nearly any filling. There are tons of stuffed pepper variations, but this one's simplicity puts it at the top of my list.

Whether you’re just beginning your health journey or are looking for quick and healthy meals to try, I encourage you to follow a diet that promotes balanced eating and to avoid fad diets that have various restrictions. Those trendy diets are short-lived and unsustainable in the long run.
That’s why you should try the meals I mentioned– there’s no restrictions, but they’re quick, fresh, and contain ingredients from every food group.
